This morning, Whanau Ako Nui hosted the first parent assembly for 2018. Our presenters were fantastic at speaking clearly and loudly while the rest of our whanau supported them with role model assembly appreciation and singing. Ka pai whanau!!!!
We found out that a koru comes from the New Zealand fern. It symbolises growth, new life and new beginnings. The koru is a very important image in New Zealand, it has many uses. These are some we could think of: - Weaving - Decorations - Ta moko - Tattoos - On the Marae - In art - To represent your family - Pounamu - On waka - In patterns Here is an amazing timelapse video we watched of a fern unfurlng - it made it so clear to see the spiral shape of the koru. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c9Zi3WFVRc
