Koru Art!

We found out that a koru comes from the New Zealand fern. It symbolises growth, new life and new beginnings. The koru is a very important image in New Zealand, it has many uses. These are some we could think of: - Weaving - Decorations - Ta moko - Tattoos - On the Marae - In art - To represent your family - Pounamu - On waka - In patterns Here is an amazing timelapse video we watched of a fern unfurlng - it made it so clear to see the spiral shape of the koru. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c9Zi3WFVRc

We had a wonderful start to the term today. All of the students were well rested, focused, and looking forward to new experiences and learning. Here are some of our students enjoying their literacy learning and sharing their thinking with each other. Can't wait for an awesome term 3!
